A philosophical education is not about degrees or salaries. It’s about:
Knowing oneself
Tuning one’s sense of pride and shame/right and wrong
Figuring out what it is to know something
Developing habits that lead to flourishing
Engaging one’s community without being shaped by it
Understanding the context of your choices
Building something better for the children
Education shapes the self.
Fall 2026 Theme: Knowledge of the Sacred
Pulling from my experience designing and delivering university courses in critical thinking/theory of knowledge, history of philosophy, philosophy of religion, and ethical theory, I help us to respect the power and the limits of our minds and epistemic positions with regard to questions of religious belief.
We will explore how philosophers have approached knowledge of morality by reason, different views of the relationship between faith and reason, and the pragmatic/existential reasons for faith (i.e. what sort of faith helps you to flourish or to exert a positive power over your life.
